Park City Bowl

Founded by Jimmy and Lillian Davis after the Second World War, the Park City Bowl promoted roller skating in Chicago’s Black communities. Originally a part of White City Bowl (a part of White City Amusement Park) as well as the venue that became the Grand Ballroom, the space was thought to have been burned down by  white terrorists during the 1920s and 1930s. This terrorism was likely instigated after the area’s Black population increased during Great Migrations, but during the 1940s the venues changed hands and began to seek profits from the City’s Black residents.
