Remembered as a significant meeting ground for young people from all over Chicago and its suburbs, this juice bar owned by Dave “Medusa” Shelton hosted all-night, teen dance parties throughout the 1980s. It was an important venue linking the punk/industrial/new wave sounds of labels like Wax Trax on Chicago’s North Side club scene to the experimental party culture of house music. DJs included Teri Bristol and Psychobitch, Jonathan “Scrappy” Gilbert, Mark “Hot Rod” Trollan, Frank Lipomi, Mark Hultmark, Michael Graber, Mark Vallese and Kasey Crabtree as well as Spencer “Gemini” Kincy, Lil Louis, DJ Rush and Armando. Also an important site of “VJ” experimentation for master tape editors like Joe Michelli.
