The Bitter End
7300 South Cottage Grove
Juice bar with separate dance floor and raised DJ booth owned by Lowell Tuff. In the early 1980s Leonard “Remix” Rroy began his DJ career here, playing his own tape edits and what he began to call “house music” while incorporating techniques used by hip hop turntablists. The juice bar is famous for having a sign reading, “We Play House Music” in the window. Previously it was a bar called Another Place where artists like Hi Fi White would hang out.
