Marjory Stoneman Douglas

Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890 – 1998) was a writer, researcher, and activist. She worked out of her Coconut Grove home from 1925 until she passed away in 1998. Her writing and research bridged her passions for the environment, the arts, and writing. She penned several books including Road to the Sun and The Everglades: River of Grass. She also wrote for The Miami Herald, and took an active role in environmental research and protection.
