Robert Frost

Poet Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, and spent the first 40 years of his life working without much recognition. However, he did eventually earn his place in American history as a writer and poet known for his realistic style. He was a winner of four Pulitzer Prizes and was recognized by President John F. Kennedy.

Robert Frost spent winters at his home called Pencil Pines. He lived here while teaching classes at the University of Miami. The tall Dade County Pines on the property inspired his poem, "Pencil Pines."
