El Salvador Park

El Salvador Park is located in the heart of Santa Ana’s Artesia Pilar neighborhood. The 8.4 acre park boasts enough space for various sporting and leisure activities, including baseball diamonds, basketball and handball courts, a swimming pool at the El Salvador Center, a large grassy field for soccer and other sports, and a playground. As part of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency, El Salvador Center hosts a variety of active programs for the youth, and James C. Fremont Elementary is immediately adjacent to the park.

On June 9, 1972, the park served as the final meeting place for students who walked out of class at various schools in Santa Ana, demanding transparency from the school district regarding massive suspensions at Valley High School and Smedley Intermediate (now known as Carr Intermediate).

MLB All Star Game Mural

MLB All Star Game can be seen from the street in front of the parking at James C. Fremont Elementary School in Santa Ana, located specifically on the side of the El Salvador Center building next to the baseball diamonds. Roberto de Hoyo, the mural's artist, used red, green, blue, black, yellow, and white colors to make his four silhouettes of baseball players stand out as the subjects. Incorporating baseball and community iconography, the mural promotes youth sport involvement, team and community building skills, and encourages youth to work towards achieving one's goals through sports.
