The Pond Street Baptist Church was organized in 1835 and is located on the West Side of Providence. It is also formerly known as The Second Free Will Baptist Church. The congregation’s history is connected with the underground railroad and known for being apart of the anti-slavery movement.

Clarence “Clay” Osborne Sings as Tenor Soloist at Pond St. Church
Before becoming the famous pianist and vocalist who would define Rhode Island jazz culture during the second half of the 20th century, Clay Osborne sang in a number of Providence church choirs as tenor soloist.

Sissieretta Sings at Pond Street
In Sissiertta's early years she begins singing at the Pond Street Baptist Church prior to receiving formal training. Her father Rev. Jeremiah Malachi Joyner, became pastor of the Pond Street Baptist Church.
